This is Celinas new car right here........the first white one ( so you can see it Lou) Anyway, Greyson and I met up with Auntie C, Maddy, Vanessa, Blake, Caden, Amy, Owen and Colton at a park in Ladera today. It was beautiful out... hot for sure. You can probably tell by Greyson's red cheeks. He had his 18 month check-up today. He is in the 30% for weight, 90% for heighth... haha a little all over the place. He was a trooper after having all his shots and then playing for almost two hours.

It was taco tuesday, without the tortilla. Greyson loved the mix of black olives, shredded cheddar cheese and taco meat... yummy. (minus the quacamole of course)

a conversation
Greyson decided to fail as our alarm clock this morning. I usually set my clock for 615 but usual turn it off and lay there for a bit. I am never able to dose off again cause Grey is usually starting to rustle around. Well, that didn't happen this morning... Greyson decided to sleep in, so at 705 I fly out of bed to start getting ready for work. Geoff soon after ventured down to check on Grey, who was standing at the baby gate on his bedroom door. So I finished getting ready for work and then came downstairs to get breakfast ready and this is the conversation that occured:
Me: "you slept for a long time baby..."
Greyson: "ya"
Me: "did you sleep well?"
Greyson: "ya"
Me: " did you have sweet dreams?"
Greyson: " ya"
Me: " what did you dream about?"
Greyson: "choo choo"
It was our best conversation so far!!! Can't wait for many more

The Return of the Flu
Thats right.... I got it!!!! It is the worst thing in the world. Stay far away from anyone who has it. Its nasty. I went to work on Thursday, my first day back after getting Grey through his ordeal. And then around 8pm Thursday I started feeling "funny." I just knew, it had to be the flu!!! Well, it was and it started and didn't end til 4:30 am. I was exhausted yesterday and with Geoff being gone in San Diego my mom came to my rescue. She got here at about 6:30am and took care of Grey... fed him, played with him, kept him busy so I could just lay on the couch and sleep when I drifted off. She then preceded to clean and disinfect my house. How much do I love her??? She, who is also recovering from the flu, she got it on Monday, came to my rescue. Thank you MOM, you are my everything... I strive to be like you in every way. Your heart is so big, your arms are always giving and your smile always brightens up a room. We love you Gamma!!!

Big Boy Bed
For those of you that don't already know Greyson now sleeps in a big boy bed aka toddler bed. He got it on Sunday after too many times falling out of his crib or coming very close. He is only 18 1/2 months old so some of you may think this is too young, but I would much rather have a safe child and have to work hard at "training" him to stay in his bed, as opposed to going to the ER for a broken bone or worse... just cause the idea sounded too difficult. So far so good though, even with him being sick. He has stayed in his bed and slept really well. It is so sweet to see the little guy in an open bed. He looks so proud.
flu flu go away
For those of you who check my blog often I apoligize for being a bad blogger. Greyson has continued to be pretty darn sick. He had a fever yesterday topping the charts at 104.8!!! I got a phone call at work from my mom telling me this... I flew out of Bassinets and Blueberries so fast I can't even tell you. So when I got to my moms she was just getting Grey out of the tub. His temp. at least started to go down.
I should have known that the night was not going to be easy...
After many hours of no sleep and me calming Grey down he called "mommy mommy" so frantically I flew off the couch and ran into his room. Seconds later he threw up all over his new big boy bed (that's another post I have not done.) Poor thing had no idea what was happening, I just kept reassuring him he was doing ok and that mommy was right there with him. So after Geoff came down and put him in a bath and I cleaned up the mess we put him back in bed. I then set up a bed right next to his bed. He preceded to throw up three more times. From 1:30 to 4 am we wre awake watching his dvd player together. My sweet little guy has had his first experience with the flu... and mommy will never forget it.

working mom
Being a mom in general is the hardest job in the world!!! Being a working mom is exceptionally hard in its own way. There is a constant feeling of sadness to a certain extent because you have to leave your little love bug in someone elses care. I, so far, have been so blessed that Jen and Kelly, two very dear friends, watch Greyson. Today I had to make a mom call to stay home from work cause Grey just didn't seem "right." You know that feeling, when you're just kind of off. So I decided that it was necessary to let down my fellow co-workers in order to not let down my baby boy. Why in doing this act do I feel so guilty! The decision was easy to make...obviously my son is more important then my job, but I have left people who were counting on me hanging. I found it so interesting that I felt this way... I am hoping that I can teach Greyson when you care about something so deeply i.e. a child or a job, there will be a feeling of let done. As long as you aren't letting the important person down then you can be confident in your decision. I really do care about my job... I have been there for 12 years! But my 18 months with Greyson makes it so much more important to stay home and give him hugs, kisses, and loves. I love being a mom!!!

80 degrees in January
We are experiencing the usual Santa Anas right now, but boy is it beautiful outside. Geoff and I decided it would be fun to take a trip down to our first home we had together... 14th in Newport. So we loaded Greyson into my new car... I forgot to blog about that... put his radio flyer in the back and headed down to the beach. Grey took a little snooze in the car which was perfect for a very pleasant playday. We walked on the beach, played at the playground, had lunch at Charlie's Chili and then played some more. It was a super fun family day. We are all completely wind blown, but oh well.
It brought back lots of memories for Geoff and I though. Being right out front of our first tiny apartment. The luxury we had that we were steps from the beach. Just walking on the boardwalk we saw two of our friends on runs and enjoyed our quick hellos. We are definately in a far different place then we were when we lived down there. The pleasure that came from today, playing with our baby (big) boy... we definately never got that from just a bike ride on the boardwalk. Of course, there is that loss of freedom to go as we please, but we have replaced that with so much more.
We are excited to forever be able to visit that special place for us... our first home, all the memories and the beach that Geoff proposed to me on. And someday Grey will understand how special it is to us and hopefully we will be able to build more amazing memories there with him.
Baby butt with a tan line
Can you imagine how big the splash was to follow.... I bet you you can't!!!
Think Grey needs a haircut???

Hello tan lines...
How unfair is it that my child is tanner then me.... in Winter. Yes, we did recently go to Hawaii, but I am not any tanner from the trip!!!Greyson loves his bathtime and so do we. Nothing is better then a freshly clean toddler. Here is just some cute playtime in the tub.
The crazy cousins
Greyson and Maddy are like two peas in a pod. You would think they are twins. It constantly cracks Celina and I up how much they are alike, how they copy each other, how they fight like siblings... on and on. But it is so fun to watch, we can't wait til Greyson can actually talk back to Maddy when she boses him around... we just wonder what Grey is thinking alllll the time. Grunting isn't easy to understand.
So the other day I decided to grab Greyson a little step stool from Target because since opening up a boombox he got for xmas, he has been using the box as a seat. Weird, I know, but he loved that box. So we found a cute red one with car cutouts, and decided that Maddy needed one too ( Celina had mentioned that Maddy was using a box in the same way... even weirder.) So Maddy got a cute pink one with butterfly cutouts. Greyson and Maddy tested out their new stepstools while watching their other favorite thing... the new dvd players that Gamma and Poppi got us all for xmas.

Thomas and new traditions
I realized that I never posted xmas morning. This year was so much fun cause Greyson is just so fun. He is just like most boys and loves trains. So his gifts this year all focused around Thomas. We got him two little train tracks, one with a station and one with a tunnel. When these were purchased they were supposed to connect together. Who knew Thomas was such a difficult toy system to work with. There is the wooden railway, the track master and the take-along. Well, we now know we want anything to do with the take-along system. But after opening both tracks we couldn't return the wrong one, so Greyson got two separate tracks hahaha. What a mess... but he didn't know any better.

Next, I have started a new tradition that I think will be fun and easy to keep up with. I have decided each Christmas I am going to buy Greyson a new, special ornament just for him. He gets to put it on the tree Christmas eve or Christmas morning... whichever we end up doing. He gets to put it wherever he wants and I have to leave it there =) Each year they can relate to whatever he is into or whatever reminds me of him. Then when he grows up and has a place where he has a tree of his own I will pass him all his ornaments. This year the traditon took place on Christmas morning...
Disneyland
While Geoff's mom was in town over the holiday we took a late afternoon trip to Disneyland. Geoff and I had never been before in the winter, especially around Christmas. It was so magical. All the lights, the snow and Santa... it was so much fun. We believe that everyone in the entire world was there at the same time cause Disneyland actually stopped selling tickets for a couple of hours. It was insane. They detour us to California adventure, which was fun cause we had never been there. So right at 6pm we were allowed in Disneyland, just in time for the holiday parade and dinner. After that we started the very scary trek to It's a Small World. That was so fun... I hadn't been on that ride in forever and I had definately never seen it all decorated for Christmas. Greyson was in aaawww the entire time... I can't believe I didn't take a picture of his face, but I think I was in aaawww too.

My dad loves to garden and we knew some day Greyson would jump out there and help. Well that day has come. On New Years Day Greyson and Poppi got to watering. It amazes me day after day how big Grey is getting. He fit into a pair of shoes that I never thought he was going to get to wear cause they are soooo big... well, they fit. My baby isn't one anymore. He is a big boy, with a big boy personality.
