Looking Back

Some times it is fun to look back at what you have accomplished so far in life... and one of my greatest accomplishments is Greyson. He is my everything... he's my best bud, he's my love bug, he's my buddy... he continues to surprise me and make me laugh. Just this morning I was changing his diaper ( which, by the way, I am completely over) and he starts saying "my butt, my butt." I was laughing so hard. First off, I don't call it a butt I call it a botton, so I don't know where he got that, but secondly, he was making up his own song which was so funny. I just love him. I can't believe how much he's grown.... from little itty bitty baby....

To Big Brother!!!!!

That's right... Greyson is going to be a big brother sometime around September 24, 2010... We are super excited and relieved. This pregnancy took longer to happen then expected, but with everyone's well wishes and our determination ( hahaha) we did it. The last couple weeks have been a little trying though, we went for our first Doctors appointment and only saw "the condo" as our doc puts it ( the black hole), but no baby inside. So I went back this last Friday and once again only thought I saw "the condo," but we had done blood work so we knew my hormone levels were rising nicely. Once he zoomed in four times I could finally see the smallest little color blurb inside the black hole, but then the best thing ever..... I saw the flash!!! That little blurb had a beating heart already. I took the biggest breath of relief. Because it was so tiny my doctor is having my come back on Friday again to do another ultrasound so we can start with a nice big picture of the baby. To the measurement calculation I am only 6 weeks along, which is crazy cause initially weeks wise based off of first day of last cycle I should be 8 weeks... crazy science. Either way, we are super excited and the doctor was super confident with us already seeing the heart beat... so let the fun begin!!! Except the fun is being masked by this damn nausea... yuck!!!

be prepared

To all you mommy's out there...do you know what to do if your child chokes??? If you don't, look it up. I, unfortunately/fortunately do. I say unfortunately because no one should ever have to do what is necessaryto keep your little one from choking...but at the same time I am very fortunate that I know what to do and seem to do it well. This i know cause Grey decided to choke the other night. I am not talking food went down the wrong pipe so you cough type choke...I'm talking about food stuck in his throat type choking. This happened because he thought he was being funny taking a bite of each chicken dino super fast with out chewing.... this lead to chicken being lodged in his throat. So I jumped into action, threw him over my arm, head down and swiftly hit him between his shoulder blades. Now, this technique they say to use on younger children, but I am not comfortable with how they say to do it on a two year. They say to lay them on their backs and swiftly press in and up on their stomach... that just seems like the food would make its way up, but then immediately go back down. So I did it the way I am comfortable... it took two times, but he finally spit the food out and started crying. Crying is the best sound in the world to hear after that incident...it means air is getting into his lungs. So we calmed Grey down, made a few jokes to make him laugh and lighten the mood....poor little guy had a detailed gag reflex and proceded to vomit on the kitchen floor. At that point we decided it was time for a bath and no more food. It was a very scary situation, but at the same time I was super calm cause I knew what to do. Please mommies... take the time to look up how to deal with a choking child...I hope you never have to do it, but if you do you will be prepared.
I am thankful that my little dude is ok..he is my everything!!!

A day at Salt Creek

We went down to Salt Creek this morning cause it was beautiful out... is it really January?!? We thought it would be fun because Greyson just learned how to pedal his tricycle by himself, which we are very proud of, and what better place then the grassy, paths of Salt Creek. Chopper got to come along too which is a big deal... poor dog never gets out and about with us.
Grey flying down the hill... legs out, daddy catching him
pedaling all by himself

loving on mommy

snack time... amazing blue skies, perfect weather and some waves to watch

Chopper

Chopper had a hangover... he was up too late

New Year's Eve

We celebrated New Year's Eve at our house in two different "rounds." C and Mike and the kids came over around 5:30pm we had appetizers and enchiladas. The kids played and got to watch the firemen that arrived across the street to help out a neighbor. It was a lot of fun... mellow, then chaotic, then mellow again. We love spending time with the Shwams....

Below is a usual sequence of the day in the life of Greyson and Maddy...

Got to love them....

Then around 8pm they went home and we put Grey to bed. We had about 45 minutes to clean up the house and then our good friend Brent and his fiance Amanda came over. We enjoy their company, Brent's amazing salsa, lots of drinks and a bottle on Dom at midnight. Here's to a New Year....cheers!!!
